Managing Performance: Individual, Management, and Organizational Lessons
This program is designed to help new managers understand the basic skills of managing and leading the people in their organizations. The content is based on understandings of how organizations work, but most of the skills are ones that we go beyond talking about and actually practice in the course. It has been successfully taught for government and private sector organizations around the world.
The program is a mix of very short lectures with case discussions and exercises – role-plays and simulations of various kinds. An important part of the approach is to help participants see how the conceptual material applies to the particular context in their own firm.
Key takeaways from the program include:
- Understanding the factors that shape individual performance
- Identifying the forces that shape teams and successful teamwork
- Learning how to identify and influence organizational culture
- Managing where authority is ambiguous
- Mastering the skills of an effective manager
